Dr Peter Mayer

Peter is a former consultant physician in geriatric and stroke medicine, working in South and Central Birmingham hospitals before his retirement in 2007. Past NHS roles also include director of research and development, elderly services manager and multiple roles at local regional and national levels including NSF stroke sub group, BMA regional higher awards representative, and chair of regional speciality committees.

Continuing as honorary president (and treasurer) of the local Institute of Ageing and Health and trustee of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital charity board. He set up up the local Crossroads in 1984 and was a national trustee of Carers Trust.

 Honorary President of Age UK Birmingham( not on board),  and is an elected public and lead governor of the Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS FoundationTrust , and is on the central council of the Socialist Health Association and executive of the West Midlands SHA.

 He has  been chair of the Lunar Society and is now an trustee.

 He is Chair of Age UK Birmingham( retiring 9.2017)  and is an elected public and lead governor of the Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS FoundationTrust , and is on the national executive of the Socialist Health Association.

 He has  been chair of the Lunar Society and is now its treasurer.
