Lawrie Nerva

With my wife Ruby, my son Cllr Neil Nerva and a friend.

Joined the Labour Party in 1945.

Chair of Social Services on Brent Council in the eighties.

Served as a councillor on Brent Health Authority and succeeding bodies.

Brent was the last council in the country to resist the Thatcher cuts. Stood with vicar of Harlesden Methodist Church in a Judicial Review against the cuts (funded by Brent Council). Lost Review.

Became Chair of Brent North and held other party offices and assisted health teams at Westminster.

Became Secretary of the Aneurin Bevan Society

In 2012 I was given the Merit Award for “outstanding service to the Labour Party.”
