Steve is a mental health nurse with a background in psychological research. He gained a first in psychology from Middlesex University in 1993 and was a member of the UK’s first pre-reg nursing MSc at the University of Essex in 2006. Since then he has mainly worked in acute crisis care and helped implement Lord Darzi’s quality agenda at North Essex Partnership Foundation NHS Trust. He is currently teaching nursing, health policy and integrated governance at the University of Essex, Southend Campus and working on a PhD. His current focus is on the theory of emotional intelligence and its relation to human capital in mental health nursing practice.
