I am Chair of Healthwatch Gateshead, a member of Gateshead Health and Well Being Board and a member of the Board of Governors of South Tyneside NHS FT. I am a Director of The Gateshead Housing Company, Chair of North Star Health, and a Director of Moneywise credit union.
I have a Ph.D in Islamic Studies and am a CNHC registered massage therapist. I am a Member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, a Member of the Institute of Health Promotion and Education, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and Senior Associate of the Royal Society of Medicine. Outside of health related activities, I am an Affiliate of the Chartered Institute of Housing, an Associate Member of the British Computer Society and a Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management.
I am partially sighted and have lived with depression – off and on, and more or less – for around 40 years.
