When an individual develops type II or type I diabetes, he or she is going to be forced to live and cope with this condition for their rest of their lives. However, it does mean that the condition will require lifelong treatment and commitment from you.

Living Sober Is Different Than Getting Sober

Just because you have kicked your habit, and on the road to recovery, it does not mean that you are living sober. Of course, you have hit a major milestone and well on your way, but in order to truly live sober, you need to completely change your lifestyle. Sometimes this might even include finding a new job, or even moving to a new state or city, where you cannot be in contact with old acquaintances.

There Really Is No “Cure” For Addiction

Many individuals will substitute alcohol for drugs, or drugs for alcohol. With that being said, substitute recovery could involve something as simple as gambling, food, sex, shopping, or even love. Whatever the situation is, you probably feel like there is a hole in your life now that you are not using, and you need to fill it with something. There is nothing wrong with trying to fill that hole, but you just have to be careful how you approach it.
