A Community Conference – Everyone welcome!

Chair: Rosi Edwards

Keynote speakers:
Lord Philip Hunt OBE, Shadow Spokesperson for Health in the House of Lords
Cllr John Cotton, Cabinet Member for Health & Wellbeing, Birmingham City Council
Jon Glasby, Professor of Health and Social Care and Director of Health Services Management Centre
Gerard Coyne, West Midlands Regional Secretary for Unite the Union

This community conference will ask the questions that you may want to see answered:

  • What sort of health service do we actual want?
  • How should it tie in with social care?
  • What sort of health service do we currently have, and where is it going?
  • What scope is there to cut costs without cutting services, e.g. through service redesign and joint working with social care?
  • Could there be any cost reductions in joining up health and social care – but by doing it, for the same cost or more, might we get a service which better meets the needs of our increasingly elderly population?
