People’s Convention for the NHS
The People’s Convention for the NHS was born out of the successful People’s March for the NHS which made its way through 23 towns and cities on the way from Jarrow to London.
One of the strengths of the march was that it united broad layers in defence of our NHS, from trade unions, pensioners groups, health workers and the local community. While there are many local campaigns fighting closures and privatisation, there is not one united voice.
The People’s Convention for the NHS has called a National Conference for Saturday April 11th to unite broad layers in defence of our NHS and to bring together campaign groups, activists, health workers, trade unions, pensioners groups and anybody concerned with the future of our NHS. We aim to build the strongest forces possible and maximum unity in the fight for our NHS.
The People’s Convention for the NHS Conference will see a broad range of speakers, workshops and plenary sessions on issues including TTIP, how to fight cuts and privatisation and establish a network of campaign groups, sharing experiences and successes.
The People’s Convention for the NHS is an umbrella organisation and is supported by a number of groups including the People’s Assembly, Keep Our NHS Public, People’s March for the NHS and various trade unions and community campaigns.
Speakers include: Jos Bell, Chair of London Socialist Health Association; Sam Fairbairn, People’s Assembly National Secretary; Sue Richards, Keep Our NHS Public Co-Chair.
