Leafletting, canvassing and protesting in Jeremy Hunt’s constituency.  Meet 12:15 The Hart, road opposite Waitrose

Hunt for Hunt

In the time Jeremy Hunt has been in charge of the NHS he has managed to visit 2 hospitals.  Since he clearly isn’t used to visiting the poor and vulnerable we felt we should go and search for him in his natural habitat of Farnham in Surrey.
Somewhat ironically and despite his promises to the contrary at the last election, having the health Secretary as your MP doesn’t make you immune to privatisation. At least not when he’s from the ‘Millionaire cabinet’. The local Haslemere Hospital has been run by Virgin Healthcare and local residents are finding this to be a problem.
Consequently alongside searching for the Health Secretary we are planning to leaflet the town centre of Farnham and go door to door getting local residents to sign a petition opposing the health cuts and privatisation being pushed by their MP. We are then planning to use this petition to publicise the fact that even the Health Secretary’s own constituents don’t like the ConDems policies on the NHS. Local and National media have been notified in order to  maximise publicity.
Unite we have laid on 4 coaches departing from 3 parts of London.
Coach 1 & 2 from South London
Assemble 8.30 at the Ramp leading up to Lewisham Station
Coach 3 from West London
Assemble 8.15 outside  Latymer Upper School, King Street Hammersmith, W6 9LR
Going on to assemble 9 am at the Corner of Longfield Avenue and Gordon Road, Ealing,W5.
Going on to assemble 9 45 am Main Entrance Kingston University, Penrhyn Road, Kingston KT1 2EE.
Coach 4 from North London
Assemble 8.15 at Unite Offices 218 Green Lanes N4 2HB
What will happen:
Following this all the coaches will travel separately to Fleet Services, for 11 am where they will meet up and after a break will travel on in convoy at 11 30 to Farnham arriving around 12.15.
Once there we will split up into those who wish to leaflet and petition in the town centre and those who wish to canvass door to door and get petitions signed.
Street theatre is being arranged to draw attention. Kids packs and balloons are being arranged to provide a family friendly environment. The two groups will reassemble at 3 pm for a short march and rally outside Conservative Association Offices. The return coaches will leave between 4 and 4 30 and arrive back at the original departure point at around 6.30.
There will be a full briefing and briefing pack laid on and distributed in the coaches on the outward journey, so everyone knows what to say.
How to get tickets:
Tickets are free to Unite members. Unwaged may be asked for a £5 refundable deposit to reserve a seat, which will be given back on the coach. Those who are not Unite member and are waged will be asked to make a £5 contribution to the printing and publicity costs which the Lewisham campaign have incurred.  Tickets are available either from myself at phil.rose@unitetheunion.org  ( for North London) or from huntforhunt2013@gmail.com (for South and West London).
