The NHS’ Five Year Forward View aims to establish the UK as a world-leading centre for innovation in digital health by 2020.
This is an ambitious and exciting time for harnessing information technology and data to improve the delivery of healthcare to patients.
But how achievable is it to enable patients to manage their records online and make the NHS “paperless” by 2018 when the previous attempt to create a national patient record system was dubbed “the biggest IT failure ever seen”?
And what gains in efficiency and improved outcomes for patients can we expect to see through the uptake of online records and NHS smartphone apps?
To consider these issues we will be joined by Dr Stephanie Ball, an advocate for digitised healthcare, in a roundtable discussion.
