    I think the most useful advice in this piece comes right at the end – better start eating healthy (I’d have preferred ‘healthily’, mind you) instead of taking supplements. Your diet should contain all the vitamins and nutrients you need, except in certain rather rare circumstances (and you’d know about those if they applied, because you’d be ill). Taking extras that you don’t need won’t confer any benefits – they’ll go right through you as surely as pill-popping practitioners will go through your bank balance.

    Trouble is of course that these days, some people don’t have time to cook or plan their meals, and so don’t get the nutrition they require – I’m really very uncertain about dietary supplements being any part of the answer to that problem. If anything, they compound it.
