Poverty and Inequality in Health

We have separate pages on Child PovertyCommunity Development and Health and on Benefits and health

We know what makes us ill.
When we are ill we are told
That it’s you who will heal us.
When we come to you
Our rags are torn off us and you listen all over our naked body.
As to the cause of our illness one glance at our rags would tell you more.
It is the same cause that wears out our bodies and our clothes.

Bertolt Brecht, 1898-1956. Worker’s Speech to a Doctor

  1. This research in Richard Wilkinson’s video interview,is not in the public domain enough.
Would that be due to the establishment minority wanting any change and controlling the media by suppression or economic blackmail ?

I found your website and blog while I was researching the Peckham Health Experiment. It’s great to see what you re doing. I thought that your members and readers might like to know about our own New Zealand Community Health Experiment. It’s based in the small town of Whakatane, and we are working to turn around the dreadful social statistics of our town through the design and construction of what we are calling a “Community Hub”, based upon principals of universal accessibility, time banking, and the provison of a wide variety of social services and social and cultural activities. If you would like to know more please visit my website at: http://www.tonywardedu.com/images/PouWhakaaro/Hub-Design-Final.ppt.pdf
