Hill Street, Coventry CV1 4AN
This meeting is intended to review the progress of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Bill and the work of the Local Involvement Network early adopter sites. It will provide opportunity for members of the National Association of Patient Forums to talk about their plans.
It is intended that the event will be interactive, encourage questions and the sharing of information and concerns. The aim is to facilitate independent conclusions in the light of the evidence presented.
25th June 10am - 4pm
Jonathan Tritter Chief Executive, NHS Centre for Involvement. Jonathan's presentation.
Ruth Marsden, and Malcolm Alexander, Chair and Vice Chair, National Association of Patients' Forums
Sally Brearley, Healthlink
Agreed that the seven key areas now - more or less in order of importance - are:
1. Continuity of volunteers and staff. We don't want to see a gap between Forums abolition and LINKs starting.
2. Sensible arrangements for PPI in specialist services, probably on a regional basis.
3. Investigation of the arrangements for PPI in Foundation Trusts. Are members and governors able to make any difference? Can they call the organisation to account?
4. Powers to enter and view and talk to people using services.
5. Access to private sector facilities.
6. The introduction of the word 'significant' into the requirement to consult about changes.
7. Section 233, the duty of PCTs to consult, should make it clear who they are to consult.
